
”Who would ever guess that a simple game of Dungeons and Dragons (or in this case, a very complex game) would morph into a full-blown novel, and most likely become a trilogy?
Look no farther than Derrick Hall, Deer Lodge’s latest author who is soon to publish his second book.
“Even this was kind of an accident,” Hall stated of the book he began last summer. “I was running a campaign (D&D) for some friends, thinking of ideas for a new one, when characters and plot lines started popping into my head. It didn’t really work for a game, so I said scrap it; I’ll write a book.”

“At first it was going to be one book, but the story wasn’t done. It ended, and it didn’t end. I needed to explain to myself who that character was.” And that character is Tiarsus, the subject of Hall’s second book, which is actually a prequel to his first novel “Qetran Odyssey.”
He wasn’t always interested in writing. “I never wrote. I never wanted to write. I attempted a few short stories in middle school, and I’d get a few pages in, stop once I realized how bad they were and quit,” he related.
